If you know about crab-snaring, then you know that it is one of the most fun and addicting ways to catch crabs! Popular here in California and Oregon, snares like these are used every season by thousands of shore anglers seeking dungeness and rock crabs.
My snares are made of high quality, rust resistant 16 gauge galvanized wire mesh. For added durability, the loops are made of 200lb test fishing leader and secured with wire clamps. I added a 70 lb test fishing snap where you can add additional weight to the snare.
To use the crab snare, simply choose a heavy duty rod and reel with at least 30lb test line and rig up the crab snare. Attach your weight to the fishing snap - I recommend between 3 and 6 oz depending on ocean conditions. Then fill the snare cage with bait and cast out. Wait 8-12 minutes and retrieve the snare by applying firm, constant pressure.
Crab season here in the SF Bay Area starts (11/2/19) and runs through (6/30/20). Happy crabbing and tight lines!
$15 per snare. Shipping is free for all US orders.
